SKELETON COAST & KAOKAVELD

This really is the "land God made in anger" - desolate, remote and vast, stretching all along the Altantic coastline to the border with Angola and inland along the perennial Kunene River. The best times to visit Namibia

Namibia is characterised by its dry, sunny climate, making it a year-round destination. The best wildlife viewing is during the dry season (May to September), when animals congregate around waterholes. This is also the coolest time of year. The coastal areas, influenced by cold Atlantic currents, offer an even cooler climate, while the interior can be extremely hot in summer (December to February). Nights in the desert are always cooler than daytime, so prepare to wrap up if necessary.

Summer: December to March

Autumn: April to June

Winter: July to September

Spring: October to November
