The best times to visit Malawi

The topography of Malawi is a little different from that of its neighbours thanks to towering mountain peaks and a giant lake! The rule of thumb is higher the altitude, the colder it gets, so the tea plantations and the northern parks can be chilly in winter and may even experience frost. The lake stays warm all year round so diving, snorkelling and swimming can be enjoyed no matter what the time of year. The rainy season lasts from December to May, with June to August being regarded as winter and the dry season. The temperatures begin to surge between September and November in readiness for the rains.
